Ron Challenger

Ron is an inaugural committee member.

He grew up in Melbourne in a dog friendly family. He worked for 8 years as an assistant Ranger for the city of Chelsea where he had the heartbreaking job of destroying unwanted and surrendered animals, this was the driving force behind his decision to manage and fund Koolie Rescue which has been operating since 2001 and has re-homed many koolies in that time.

He has spent 16 years as a part time dairy hand in Victoria, 26 years as a diesel mechanic and has been Water Services Officer for Goulburn Murray Water since 1989.

He sharefarmed, maintained farming equipment and designed and built a mechanics facility in Balranald In South West NSW, where he worked Smithfields.

His had first 'up close and personal' experience with a single blue eyed koolie in 1986 and decided there and then if I ever found a breeder I'd buy one.

He has 16 years experience instructing Obedience and has 5 years experience judging all breeds Obedience for the Australian National Kennel Council.

He organized and established 8 week Obedience training courses in Northern Victoria. Launched Cohuna Obedience in 2000 and launched Kerang Obedience in 2002. He has launched Pampered Paws Obedience Training in 2006.

He has trained working dogs for Obedience since 1986 and his highest training achieved GD and CD with a Smithfield.

With wife Kerrie and daughter Bethany, he has bred koolies since 2000, now achieving their 3rd generation with many of the pups growing into successful working dogs across the country.
