Louise Pakeman

Louise Pakeman has been a regular to our meetings for some time now joining the committee at our 2006 annual meeting and has been willing to hop in and help out straight away by taking on the new position of puppy referral officer.

We asked Louise for some information about herself:

Born in England into a farming family and brought up with working Border Collies. Married a farmer and came to Australia in 1968 and farmed for 4 years in Tasmania before coming to Victoria to continue farming. Had Pinto Pony stud and Donkey Stud and was the first president of the Australian Donkey Society.

Always had dogs of various breeds and met my first Koolie some years ago when my daughter adopted and old bitch from the Bendigo Shelter. This was such an outstanding dog that when a notice appeared on local Milk Bar door offering a six month old Koolie free to good home I had him. I found him such an intelligent dog and such a great companion that I have been a Koolie enthusiast ever since. Morty (see web site) is now four years old.

Author of over 20 published books, non-fiction, mostly animal books, published under the name Ann Walker and novels published as Louise Pakeman and an avid reader I review dog books that impress me for the Koolie Newsletter. Now retired from farming Morty is a companion dog, I am not a breeder.
